Blood Meal

One of the bi-products of the beef processing industry is blood meal which is primarily used for high grade fertilizer, prized among growers of specialty products like roses and orchids. During this process, beef blood is coagulated and fed to a United two-phase decanting centrifuge which separates the blood into stick water and blood meal.

The stick water must meet a pre-determined solids content while the blood meal must meet a pre-determined moisture content. If the stick water has too many entrained solids the blood meal yield is lessened. If the blood meal has too much moisture the drying time is lengthened thus increasing operating costs and reducing profits. United’s custom built 10 degree SS1000 LHF-HP centrifuge has been found to be ideal for this process due to its ability to meet customer specifications and produce the highest possible yield on a consistent basis.
